An illustrative score
84/2 represents 84 runs with two wickets lost. This is a teaching example, not a live result.
Overs are not decimal fractions
12.3 overs means 12 completed overs and three valid balls of the next. An over consists of six valid balls.
Keep the situation visible
Check the innings, format and target if applicable. A score without the surrounding context does not tell you the outcome.
Make a useful note
Explain the fields in your own words. Separate batting figures, bowling figures and extras rather than combining them.
